In just a month, it’ll be a full year since I left my 10-year corporate career. It’s pretty wild to think about.

But before I left, there was still the voice inside telling me to stay a little longer, keep the paycheck, and just coast.

My full-time job didn’t take up all of my time, I had coworkers that were my friends, and I got paid over $200K.

I know a lot of people would be perfectly content living this way.

And I thought I should too.

I oscillated between feeling complacent (“it’s not that bad”), guilty (“why can’t I just be grateful to have a job?”, and just plain fed up (“why am i still here??).

After two years of these back-and-forth feelings, there finally came a time when I needed to take a leap of faith.

That leap of faith may have seemed like I decided one day to do it, but it’s actually been small actions that took me over TWO years to build up the courage.

Because while it might not seem like it now, I have historically been a highly risk-averse person.

I only would consider quitting a job unless I had another one lined up. I looked for jobs with a title or pay increase, even though they weren’t aligned to what I wanted to do next.

But that’s the thing: we sabotage ourselves when it comes to reaching our goals.

Want to quit your job? Our brain tells us all the reasons we can’t.

Want to pivot your career into something different? You tell yourself you need more experience before you even try.

The title of this email may be a bit misleading because when I went all in on solopreneurship, nothing changed overnight.

Yes, I did feel free, excited and full of possibilities!

But then the work continued—building trust in myself, figuring it out, and staying consistent.

Now, almost a full year later, I’m proud I took the leap, but I’m more proud of taking small, consistent steps toward what I really wanted.

In the Just Start cohort, we’ll practice doing exactly that.

We’ll identify your career experiment and how you can start moving toward the life you want to live now.

Then, we’ll look at your relationship with work and money—the two biggest things that often hold people back from pursuing something new. We’ll map out a bridge plan to get you from where you are today to where you want to go. That could look like…

  • Keeping your full-time job and building out your career experiment on the side

  • Transitioning into a new bridge role that frees up your time

  • Pivoting into a new full-time job

  • Taking on contract or part-time work in the field you’re interested in

  • Getting you ready to leave your job entirely

  • …and other variations that will look different for each person!

You’ll have 1:1 time with me, so we can talk through your options together. You’ll also get lifetime access to the Slack community where you can connect with others on a similar journey.

I’ll share my frameworks and templates you can use as you build out your idea, plan your finances, and manage your time.

Lastly, I know there are a lot of courses and group programs out there, but here’s why you should consider this one:

  1. It’s a beta, which means everything will be personalized and shaped by this group

  2. You’ll get both 1:1 support and the energy of a small, intentional community of women who are all building something new alongside you

  3. I’ve invested over $12K in myself, so you’ll get the learnings from all of the coaches and courses I’ve taken in the past

  4. My 10-year career in consulting and product marketing is an asset when it comes to marketing and positioning your multi-dimensional self

  5. I don’t have all the answers! (i.e. I won’t scam you 😅)

SO if you want to join Just Start, doors close in only 3 days.

If you’re ready to join, you can sign up here.

If you need a refresher of the program, you can learn more here or reply to this email with any questions.

Best,
Maggie

P.S. I just opened up TWO scholarship spots in my Just Start cohort for those who really want to be part of the first cohort but just can't make the financial commitment right now! If this sounds like you, apply here.
