This month I created a plan.

I had my marketing calendar set up to drip out content across my newsletter, LinkedIn, and Instagram as I’m gearing up to officially launch my first cohort.

But then, this past week happened, and I found myself overwhelmed.

Not just with one particular thing but everything happening all at once.

My trip to CA where I was taking early morning meetings. Balancing multiple asks from clients. Personal news outside of my control that all landed within the same week.

Some of you have asked me, “How do you balance doing multiple things at once?”

The truth is that it doesn’t always work out.

There are going to be days when working for yourself feels so liberating that you want to create a movement around it.

But there are also days that you question how you can hold all of these spinning plates without one shattering to the floor.

The good news is that the best part about working for myself is that I can change the theoretical plan I created at the beginning of the month because I’m the one who created it!

So, I’m altering my content calendar a little bit to make room for self-care, which means I’m pushing the official launch of my cohort out. The waitlist will be open for another week if you forgot to sign up last week.

Whether you work for yourself or not, operating at 110% all of the time isn’t sustainable.

When things feel like they’re falling apart, self-compassion and self-care activities are critical to fill yourself back up.

What I do when I need a break

While I do operate a high capacity compared to some people (I’m a manifesting generator in human design), I am not a superhuman.

Whenever I feel myself in a rut or craving time away from work, I come back to these three things: rest, movement, and nature.

So on Friday, I stopped working around 3pm. I went to Pilates class and then back home where I ordered Doordash (a salad but also ice cream 🙂) and watched The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3—I’m way behind!

This was the start of my rest—turning my brain off, stopping work, and just being alone. It was something I hadn’t done in a long time.

On Saturday, I prioritized movement, nature, and connection. I went on a unexpectedly long but fun bike ride (26 miles!) with friends in Upstate NY, which was so beautiful and necessary.

I realized even though I have a car, I definitely don’t utilize it enough and now want to make this more of a priority before it gets cold! P.S. Should I organize a casual hiking meet up soon? 🌿

Yesterday, I booked a massage, did a smoothie + walk catch up with a friend, journaled, and went to a Yin yoga class in the evening.

I essentially took things really easy and created my own mini-retreat weekend. The stuff I plan for clients but need to do more of myself!

My realizations from this past week

When it rains, it pours. It’s my first year working solo so there are a lot of unknowns that I have to go through by trial and error.

Many of the people I know who are solopreneurs experience the same thing and now is the time to adjust. So, going forward I know that…

  • I will find a way to have 2 events/retreats projects at the same time (not 5!)

  • Just because I can say yes to everything, doesn’t mean I have to

  • I will be compassionate with myself

🧠 Final thoughts

When life feels like it’s moving too fast, the best next step is often to pause. Even when it feels like it’s impossible, it’s the best thing to help you recharge and come back stronger.

💬 Your turn

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, what does your perfect reset weekend look like? How can you build one into your monthly practice?

Weekly Feels

I pretty much told you about my weekly feels above so here’s a pic from the bike ride I mentioned 🙂 It was completely sunny and then started pouring as we neared the end—a sign from the universe, maybe? Who knows!
