Ok before I get into this week’s newsletter, I wanted to share that it’s launch week for my program, Just Start. Finally!

I am sure I most definitely don’t have everything figured out, but I’ve executed my little content plan this week in Asana and spent most of the day yesterday heads down in Canva and email copy.

All to say: look out for my launch email this week. Open it, read it, and if it’s not for you, my ask is that you forward to a friend who could be interested 🙂 Ok, read on!

When I lived in San Francisco, I was walking home one night from a friend’s house. It was about 9 or 10pm on a weekday, and I was in a great mood.

We were going skiing the next morning (my fave activity!), and I had dropped off my skis at her house. Before I left, my friend yelled back at me, “Text me when you get home!”

I said I would, but thought, I’ll be fine. It’s only a ten-minute walk.

I was a block from home when I heard two girls who looked like they were about 12 or 13 arguing behind me.

They seemed confused, like they didn’t know which way to go.

Due to my good mood, I decided to turn around and offer some help.

One of them said they were trying to find their dad, but they didn’t know where he was. I kept asking if they knew where they were supposed to meet him, but they had no idea.

I knew something felt off.

Then, she asked for my phone, so she could call her dad.

There was a sinking in my stomach. I still knew something was wrong, but I didn’t want to believe it, so I handed it over.

She dialed a number, and I waited for her dad to pick up. What were seconds felt like minutes.

In my head, I was thinking, “Please don’t steal my phone. Please don’t steal my phone. Please don’t….”

And then, boom. She ran off, down the steep San Francisco hill, full speed ahead.

And, without thinking, I ran after her screaming, “HELP!!! She stole my phone!”

My beanie fell off my head as I sprinted. There was one man I jetted past who did absolutely nothing.

I ended catching up with her at the bottom of the hill where I told her to give me my phone back, and she proceeded to pull my hair then toss my phone toward me where it landed on the ground.

I picked it up, ran up the hill, and headed home where my downstairs neighbor sees me in complete distress.

“Are you OK?”, he asked.

No, I wasn’t OK.

I wanted so badly to give them the benefit of the doubt but in the end, I should’ve listened to my gut.

How my story relates to indecision

I used to classify myself as an indecisive person. It wasn’t just because I wanted to make the right decision but moreso because I didn’t want to make the wrong one.

Should I quit my job? Should I end this situationship?

Oftentimes, I talk through this decision with others and dwell on it for longer than it warrants.

In my corporate job, I hoped things would get better for years but most nights, I was so anxious I couldn’t sleep.

With clients, there have been clients I’ve said yes to, even when my gut answer felt like a no.

With dating, I’ve stayed way too long, knowing that they couldn’t give me what I truly needed.

What I’m slowly realizing is that there is a voice inside of us that knows what’s right and what’s wrong, but we have to actually listen to it.

🧠 Final thoughts

Indecision comes from a lack of self-trust. When we put trust in friends, “experts” on Youtube, or two girls who ask for your phone, we muddle our own opinions.

The real growth comes from trusting yourself to choose what you know is right for you. It doesn’t mean that it’ll be easy, but I hope it feels easeful once the choice has been made.

💬 Your turn

What’s one decision that could have been more aligned if you listened to your gut? Reply to this email to let me know!

Weekly Feels

Since the first time I returned from my London trip, I’m finally feeling like I have a somewhat “normal” week ahead.

Last week, I worked onsite for my second event with Trademark, the agency I work with. When you’re a solopreneur, it feels fun to be on a team! I did work 15+ hours one day though—events are no joke!

Speaking of events, now that I’m back, I’m going to lots of events this fall and would love to see you! Take a peek below.
