📣 Quick PSA that doors close for my Just Start cohort TOMORROW at midnight ET. Scholarship applications for those who are undergoing financial hardship are due today at 8pm ET, and I’ll notify everyone who applied on Tuesday morning. It’s happening!

For the first half of the year, I’ve been sharing my real #s and learnings as a first-time solopreneur. If you missed those, you can read them here:

These have been some of my most popular posts and now it’s time to share how I did in Q3!

July: $11,148

As a reminder, a lot of the numbers you see is actually money that I earned the month prior. In June I worked a gaming conference and was onsite in Orlando for 10 days so a lot my revenue came from that. About half of the revenue came from my fractional product marketing client.

One of my big goals this year was to work abroad in London. Originally I wanted to get a company to pay me to travel there but when that didn’t happen, I had to figure out how to make it work (without spending double the rent).

My friend who was visiting from Singapore subleased my place for 10 days and then my roommate and I found another person to sublease for 10 days. I also hosted on Kindred twice and referred a few people, which gave me enough credits to book flats in London. By doing all of this, I was able to cover my housing in London (+ had a little room to spare!)

🌳 August: $14,557

In August, I prioritized exploration and play. In the mornings, I would take long walks in some of London’s beautiful parks or workout before starting meetings in the afternoon US time. I worked late some nights due to the time zone, but it was nice being able to take a slower morning.

As for revenue, I started working with Hampton the previous month to coordinate member retreats. But most of my August revenue was still coming from my product marketing contract (~$8K).

🎒 September: $5,533

When you quit your job, you think that’s the only leap you’ll have to make. But when you work for yourself, you’re left with lots of little leaps—like when to let go of work to create space for something new.

In August, I decided to end my product marketing contract, so I didn’t see that revenue in September. While it paid the highest, I wanted to lean into other projects, like launching my career pivot workshop and Just Start cohort, which explains the dip in revenue the last month.

So what did I earn in Q3?

In Q1, I made ~$10K. In Q2, I 4x’ed that number and made ~$45K. And in Q3, I made a little less at $31,237. That brings me to a grand total of ~$86K.

My goal for the year was an ambitious $150K and honestly, I probably could have hit it if I optimized only for revenue.

But life isn’t only about money.

I let go of my product marketing contract to spend more time launching my cohort. While there is a dip in revenue in the short-term, I’m building toward my long-term vision of creating a portfolio career comprised of retreats, career, and community.

💭 Final thoughts

Next week, I’ll share more Q3 learnings, how I grew my personal brand, and what I’m focused on for the rest of the year.

Weekly Feels

I’ve been in launch mode the entire week preparing for the first call of Just Start on Friday! 🤓

And I’m going to be honest, I was in a bit of a slump last week as a lot of pent up feelings came to the surface last time I launched something publicly and no one signed up—the roller coaster of being a solopreneur!

But this time is different. I’ve been receiving messages like this one 👇

And this one 👇

I’m truly looking forward to everyone who has signed up so far. For those of you who are waiting until the last minute, doors close tomorrow at midnight EST!
